It’s not about depriving oneself or getting caught up in sport, only to rebalance your lifestyle to restore friendships with your balance. Jason Ewoldt, nutritionist at Mayo Clinic, reviews some tricks to find the line without depriving himself.

By succumbing to the utopia of “miracle” regimes and photoshopped silhouettes on every street corner, we are making the first faux pas to our slimming destination: the frustration of having unrealistic weight expectations. To get rid of the weight of false promises that abound on the web and our extra pounds at the same time, Jason Ewoldt remains in simplicity and discusses some principles of healthy living:

1- Hydrate yourself regularly

At first, many of us are convinced that we drink enough water during the day. Yet, on the occasion of the World Water Day in 2016, a study would have identified that only 25% of French people would drink enough water! To overcome this lack, do not hesitate to decorate your water of lemon, ginger, cucumber or even mint to give it flavor. This will also help you avoid the consumption of soft drinks and sugars, a risk factor for obesity and overweight identified by WHO.

2- Get enough sleep

According to an article published by Environmental Health Perspectives, many studies have associated insufficient sleep with obesity and the most alarming is that this bad habit would also cause an increase in appetite. In fact, the lack of sleep disrupts the functioning of the hormones responsible for the sensation of satiety, leading us to favor high-calorie foods and thus to gain weight.

3- Take the time to eat

At breakfast or lunch, Ewoldt recommends taking your time to avoid further cravings. According to the nutritionist, impulsivity would be largely responsible for weight gain. By depriving ourselves or avoiding eating at meal times, we take the risk of succumbing to irritation and acting impulsively as soon as we find ourselves in the presence of food, often giving our preference to the dishes. caloric quicker to prepare at the expense of healthier foods.

4- Choose the right breakfast

Although breakfast is an essential meal to start the day, you are not immune to promoting weight gain if you choose the wrong foods. Tartines of white bread with butter, croissants and other pastries made from refined cereals will not fail to make you regret your food choices in a very short time. To recharge your batteries and enjoy a tasty meal when waking up, choose whole grains, protein sources, nuts or red berries!

5- Do not forget about snacks

Always with the aim of overcoming impulsive behavior at the main meals, do not hesitate to prepare healthy snacks to take with you to the office or during your outings to have a healthy alternative at your fingertips. Handful of almonds or nuts, fruits and vegetables in the form of sticks, the options are varied and varied to satisfy you without affecting your weight.

6- Practice a sport activity in the morning

Many of us tend to give up on this advice because we associate physical activity with a grueling session, difficult to accomplish when our schedule is overloaded. Yet, a study would have determined that it would take only 30 minutes to observe conclusive results! What’s more, the physical exercise on awakening on an empty stomach will allow you to tap into the fat stored by your body and therefore to reach your slimming goals more easily.

7- Choose whole grains

We talked about it for breakfast, but whole grains do not just apply to your morning meals. They are a seemingly innocuous change to your diet, yet their impact on your lifestyle is highly beneficial. By replacing your usual pasta and rice with brown rice and whole pasta, you promote the feeling of fullness, fill up with fiber to facilitate your intestinal transit and enjoy tasty meals good for your line!

8- Do not forget to eat fruits

Rich in nutrients essential to the body, the fruits are an essential asset to bring water, fiber and vitamins to your body. Their regular consumption is advocated by all health organizations and for good reason, they would not only be good for the line but would indirectly prevent the appearance of cardiovascular diseases.
